Evaluation of dynamic behaviour of porous media including micro-cracks by ordinary state-based peridynamics

Abstract Reliable evaluation of mechanical response in a porous solid might be challenging without any simplified assumptions. Peridynamics (PD) perform very well on medium including pores owing to its definition, which is valid for entire domain regardless existed discontinuities. Accordingly, porosity defined by randomly removing the PD interactions between material points. As wave propagation body can regarded as an indication properties, media under impact loading studied first and average speeds are compared with available reference results. A good agreement present results achieved. Then, micro-cracks introduced into investigate their influence elastic propagation. The considered both random regular patterns varying number cracks orientation. ratio increases, it observed that speed drops considerably expected. cases micro-cracks, not influenced significantly micro-crack configurations, while play noticeable role absorbing depending orientation crack arrays y -direction.
